Manager of Accessibility Services

Miriam is the Manager of Accessibility Services at UCP of Eastern Connecticut, where she has
been a dedicated advocate for individuals with disabilities since joining the organization in 2021.
In 2022, Miriam was introduced to the Assistive Technology Program and subsequently earned
her certification as an Assistive Technology Specialist (ATS) through California State University
at Northridge.

Prior to her role at UCP, Miriam gained valuable experience working with children with
developmental and physical disabilities in a group home setting. This hands-on experience
deepened her understanding of how technology can be adapted to enhance accessibility for
individuals with disabilities. Miriam holds a degree in Human Services with a minor in
Psychology from Goodwin University.

Miriam has also taken on a leadership role in the Bridging the Digital Divide (BDD) program, a
collaboration with the State Unit on Aging and the Connecticut Tech Act Project. This initiative
aims to assist seniors and individuals with disabilities over the age of 18 by increasing access to
technology that fosters stronger connectivity to family, community, food, recreation, healthcare,
and telehealth services. The program focuses on reducing social isolation and improving
healthcare outcomes for underserved populations.

Miriam is passionate about making technology accessible to all, with a particular focus on
seniors, built-in accessibility features, independent living, and Smart Home technology. As she
puts it, “Technology helps us give the people we serve the best day, every day.” A tireless
advocate for people with disabilities, Miriam is committed to removing barriers and ensuring that
every individual can live a self-determined life.
